Cause: Potential for listeria contamination

What was recalled:Â 2-pound packages of the following raw frozen pet food, with no lot numbers, batch codes or expiration dates provided:
- Course Ground Rabbit
- Course Ground Mallard Duck
- Ground Llama
- Ground Pork
No human or pet illnesses have been reported to date, according to the FDA, which notes that the recall follows positive test results for listeria on samples of the product.
According to Pet Age, the recalled food was produced from April to August 2018.
Thogersen Family Farm says all of the food has been accounted for: Either it has already been sold/consumed (and the customers were notified directly) or the food was never sold.
Meanwhile, in a post to its Facebook page (archived here), the company insists that the FDA is sowing chaos on a “witch hunt.”
Thogersen Family Farm says that “listeria is a commonly found pathogen in many bovine animals” that “does not harm healthy individuals or pets.”
