Recalled: Nutrisca Chicken and Chickpea Recipe Dry Dog Food

The cause is elevated levels of Vitamin D, which in high doses can cause serious health problems in dogs.

What was recalled: The following dry dog foods with “best by” dates of Feb. 25, 2020 – Sept. 13, 2020 only:

  • Nutrisca Chicken and Chickpea Recipe Dry Dog Food, 4 lb. bags, UPC #8-84244-12495-7
  • Nutrisca Chicken and Chickpea Recipe Dry Dog Food, 15 lb. bags, UPC #8-84244-12795-8
  • Nutrisca Chicken and Chickpea Recipe Dry Dog Food, 28 lb. bags, UPC #8-84244-12895-5

According to the FDA report, “Nutrisca became aware of the elevated levels of Vitamin D after receiving complaints from 3 pet owners of Vitamin D toxicity after consuming the product. An investigation revealed a formulation error led to the elevated Vitamin D in the product.”

Consumers who have bought any of the products affected by this recall should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
