Recalled: NutriSource PureVita Salmon Entrée Wet Dog Food

Two lots are being recalled after the manufacturer identified a problem with excessive Vitamin D levels. Here’s what you need to know.

Two specific lots of NutriSource PureVita Salmon Entrée wet dog food, sold in 12.5 oz. cartons, are part of the recall. No other NutriSource or PureVita products are affected.

Maker: Tuffy’s Pet Foods, Inc.
Cause: Elevated levels of Vitamin D

What was recalled: 12.5 oz. TetraPak cartons of NutriSource PureVita Salmon Entrée pâté-style dog food, UPC #073893 962021, with the following lot numbers and best by dates only:

  • Lot #0629101N1 and best by June 29, 2023
  • Lot #0901101N1 and best by Sept. 1, 2023

The recall was initiated after the manufacturer identified a problem with excessive Vitamin D levels in the product listed above. No other NutriSource or PureVita pet foods or treats are part of this recall.

Consuming elevated levels of vitamin D in dog food can cause adverse reactions in dogs of all sizes. However, no pet illnesses have been reported to date in association with the PureVita product.

The affected product was distributed within the United States to distributors and retail stores.

“The manufacturer of the affected product has identified and isolated the error, and corrective actions are in progress to prevent this from happening again,” Tuffy’s Pet Foods said in the recall announcement.
